Real-world outcomes in youth with headache disorders

Little is known about what factors impact long-term outcomes for children and adolescents with headache disorders. Although natural history studies exist, outcomes have generally been limited to changes in headache diagnoses over time, rather than more specific and clinically important outcomes such as headache frequency, disability, and health care utilization patterns.

We are collecting real-world data on a large sample of children and adolescents with headache disorders to better characterize how these disorders change over time, and determine which demographic and clinical factors are associated with outcomes.

Having a better understanding of how youth are impacted by their headache disorders over time, and what demographic and clinical factors predict outcomes, will help us to better counsel our patients and provide more personalized care.
