Biopsychosocial factors in youth with migraine

The standard of care for migraine in youth is not personalized and relies on a trial-and-error approach to treatment. A lack information indicating which youth with migraine are at the highest risk of poor outcomes limits our ability to plan care in a personalized manner.

We are assessing children and adolescents with migraine, and one of their parents or guardians, to determine the relationship between migraine outcomes and a variety of specific psychological, social, clinical, and biological factors.

We will better understand the relationship between a variety of biopsychosocial factors and migraine outcomes in youth with migraine. This will help to focus future clinical assessments on key factors associated with outcomes to better guide service delivery, and provide youth with more personalized care.
